I just have to confess now that Real Techniques is my favourite brand when it comes to makeup brushes. The quality is top notch and the price is super affordable, what else one wants. Never even once have these brushes disappointed me. No shedding, no staining and no scratching. It could not have been better. I mean I just cannot spend 2000-2500 on a single brush from MAC. I like the pricing of Real Techniques and quality toh we all already know. Today I am here to share the eyes starter kit from Real Techniques.
What Real Techniques says:
Eye definition goes high definition with our revised starter set.
- Base shadow brush: applies a smooth, flawless foundation of color.
- Deluxe crease brush: soft, oversized design for effortless contouring.
- Accent brush: for precision detailing, highlighting and smudging.
- Fine liner brush: for precision application of liquid of cream eyeliner.
- Brow brush: distinctive shape easily defines eyebrows.
Price: $18/- (available online for around Rs.1400-1800)
Packaging: the eyes starter kit comes in a plastic packaging with a black case in it. I love the case it comes with. It is so easy to store the brushes this way. Also the black case looks chic. You can easily pop the entire case in your bag without the worries of bristles being hurt.
What I think:
IMO this eyes starter kit is perfect of people who are just new in this field of eye makeup and don’t want to spend a bomb on MAC blending and crease brushes. I had got these almost a year back and m still using all of these for one purpose or other. Yes! These are pretty multi-purpose brushes and can be used for lot more than just eyes. Let’s know more about these brush wise:
Deluxe Crease Brush:
A stiff fluffy brush that helps pack color in the crease and define it well. The brush is soft and works pretty well. Being stiff I even use it for placing the contour shade in the hollow of the cheeks and placing highlighter on the high points of the face. It works well this way too.
Base Shadow Brush:
This is designed for even application of eyeshadows on the lid. The bristles are soft again and has a tapered shape. This is also a good blending brush. For more than eyes, I use this for applying concealer under the eyelids and contouring the sides of nose and trust me blends the concealer like nobody’s business. My favourite out of all 5.
This is again a stiff and tiny multi-purpose brush and can be used for inner corner highlighting and placing the color on outer V of the eye. It also smudges the kohl pretty well.
Fine Liner brush:
This is the most disappointing brush. Its bristles are bit hay wire and I can never get a thin line with this brush. But I found an alternative way to use it too. Now I use it as a lip liner brush and it works so well in outlining the lips.
An angled thick and stiff brow brush. Doe to its angled shape works well in defining the brows and giving them a proper shape. A simple no fuss brow brush.
I am using these brushes for more than a year now and none of them have shed even once.
I wash these one a month with my face wash and they dry within few hours. The case is very useful for keeping the brushes.
All in all though named eye starters kit, this is a multi-purpose kit and all the brushes can be used in more than 1 way.
- Multi-purpose kit
- All the brushes are soft
- Covers all aspect of eye makeup
- no shedding at all
- do not stain permanently
- will last long it cared properly
- nice case for storing brushes
Not So Best Features:
Do I recommend: the kit is actually a well compiled brushes kit and if you have this, you would not need much of other brushes. These and a bent eyeliner brush complete my eye makeup set and I don’t think I need any further brushes atleast for the time being. Recommended.
