Pimples are in our genes! Yaa really. Both of my elder siblings have fought with it and even I have. There was a time when I used to have biiggg pus filled pimples. Then I got them treated from dermat. Its been 7 years since then! Now too I get occasional breakouts once in a while but I know how to treat them and follow a particular regime to keep the skin pimple free.
I know lots of you might also have passed from that phase or are going through it. This post is for you.
I’ll tell you simple ways to keep your skin pimple/acne free. Also I’ll share my recommendations for products that you should include in your routine.
1. Switch to Soap free cleansers
Everytime you go to buy a face wash, see the ingredient list first and check for SOAP- FREE. If it is so, you can go ahead. Soap based cleansers are more drying and harmful for skin. Infact you can also try the 2% salicylic acid based face washes. They help with the drying of live pimples. Massage the face wash on skin, let it sit for a minute or two and then wash off. This way the face wash gets time to work on the pimples. Recommendations:
2. Resist from pricking a pimple
This age old advice you must have heard atleast 100 times earlier but its actually worth it. Pricking a pimple with your dirty finger and then touching the face with same fingers will only aggravate the situation. If you have to go for an important event and the pimple is already full of pus and about to break any time, you can take a fresh tissue and just squeeze it out and apply ice over it but not ever with your fingers please!
3. Make Clindamycine and Nicotinamide you BFFs
If you have ever visited a dermat for pimples, you’ll know these 2 names already but if not, don’t worry, m here to tell you about these. Clindamycin actually helps in drying out the pimple and nicotinamide is to prevent the mark. Many a times the acne gels dry out the pimples but leave a stubborn acne mark behind but if you use a concoction of both, that mark would not be there. There are lot of creams/gels in the market with these 2 ingredients. Just tell these names to chemist and he’ll give you one. Recommendations: Femcinol-A, Clarithromycin.
4. Wash face three times a day only
Like everything else, washing the face also is required only in a limit. Too much of washing can cause the skin to dry out and aggravate the pimples. 3 times a day is certainly more than enough. I myself wash only twice a day.
5. Sleeping with dirty face is a sin
This is one thing which can cause more harm to your skin than you can think. Trust me! Never ever sleep with dirty face/makeup on. This gives bacteria a breeding ground and easily cause pimples. Make washing face at night a habit. I myself have followed this habit and this is one of the main reasons for my clear skin. it lets your skin breathe and recover from day long damage.
6. Moisturization is a must
You have oily skin and you think that skins natural oils are enough moisturization and using another moisturizer on top will make face greasy, Right? WRONG. Even oily skin needs moisturization. This is why we have oil-free and oil control moisturizers in market. A good moisturizer which suits your skin type can do wonders in keeping your skin pimple free. Recommendations: neutrogena oil free moisturizer, Lakme youth infinity serum, Innisfree sebum control serum, Clinique DDML.
7. Clay based facepacks are your weekend companions
Clay based packs soothe the live pimples and aids in their healing. Can be used once or twice a week but not more than that because they are bit drying. They suck the oil from the skin and leave a matte feeling. Recommendations: Himalaya neem pack, aroma magic charcoal pack, innisfree volcanic clay mask.
8. Light exfoliation is a must
If you have lot of live pimples then exfoliation should be avoided but if the pimples have dried out to an extend, light exfoliation can be done. It removes the dead skin and comedones and prevent the formation of new pimples. Just light massage for 2 mins with your favorite scrub is enough. Just don’t use a very harsh scrub, a fine light scrub is good.
Recommendations: garnier pure active scrub, Himalaya neem scrub, aroma magic
9. Drinking min. 2 litres of water actually helps
Water helps wash out the toxins from the body and keep the system clean. A clean system means clean skin, so make it a habit to drink atleast 2 litres of water every day. You’ll see the difference in your skin within days itself.
10. Stop worrying and be Happy
Last but the best! Pimples come and go but the moments in life once go will never return so Stay Happy and don’t worry. When you’ll be happy inside your skin will show it outside.
So this was all from my side for today. Let me know in case you have some additional tips, will love to hear from you guys.
