How many times has it happened with you that you bought something just for the heck of buying and then after using the same, it goes on to become your favourite? Well this is what happened with this lipstick. When I bought it, I was just not so happy with my decision but when I wore it once, OMG I was smitten with this beauty. So much so smitten that m planning to get one more of these soon.
Read on to know why!
What Maybelline India Says:
Available in 8 bright, matte shades, this double-sided lip product will inspire you to experiment with your looks and bring out your unique style and personality.
The color stick at one end will give a gorgeous pop of color while the cushion blender tool at the other end will give a sexy, graded look. For a complete trend-on look, apply color on the center of your upper lip and use the sponge smudger to extend the color to the outer edges till the contours of your lips or use it as a matte lip color or a lip liner.
Price: Rs. 500 for 1.25 gms
Packaging: these lip gradation pencils are packaged in a different and unique way. At one end is the pencil and the other end is the smudger. Each pencil is color coded and you get exact color on the lips as the pencil. However, as usual all the info is written on the outer package and once you remove the same, its gone. The only saver is that his time the name of the product is etched on the pencil itself, unlike the velvet matte ones.
Shade: Pink 2 is a gorgeous bright raspberry pink shade which will flatter all skintones, be fair or dark. It has just the right amount of purple and pink and can be a great bridal shade as well.
Texture: oh so lovely! Matte but not those dry uncomfortable matte. A creamy soft matte which looks oh so gorgeous on lips without getting into lines or dry patches.
Pigmentation: Bang on! One of the most pigmented lippies in my stash. Covers the lips in one swipe itself and is so opaque that would be pigmented lip beauties’ delight.
Apart from the smudger, everything else is awesome about this lip pencil. These are said to be the indian version of color blurs but I just not like it in the gradient form. The smudged color does not do justice to the gorgeous shade this is. Ever since I got this, I am wearing this as a full fledged lip color and oh boy! Can’t tell you the no. of compliments I’ve got. the pencil just glides on the lips without any tugging or pulling and covers the lips beautifully. Once applied, this stays for almost 6-7 hours easily. With a meal, the intensity does wear off a bit but the color stays put.
The packaging is bit confusing in the beginning and I accidently twisted the pencil with cap closed and thus broke the tip even before using it. But now that I know, I’ll be more cautious with the new one. You guys also please note that twist written at the smudger is not to open the smudger cap but to bring the pencil out.
Also lots of places, this is being compared to all fired up from MAC. Since I have both, I did a swatch for you all and IMO pink 2 is pinker and brighter than MAC but on lips both are like 90% similar.
- Highly pigmented
- Gorgeous raspberry pink shade
- Easy to use twist pencil
- Soft and creamy texture
- Comfortable matte wear
- Long staying power
Not So Best Features:
- Smudger is just a publicity gimmick! No use.
- Quantity is less for the price
Rating: 4.5/5 (-.5 for useless smudger)
Do I Recommend: Definitely yes! Just overlook the smudger part and see this as a lip pencil and you would not be disappointed. Also this particular shade is highly recommended!
